manaca is a convenient and easy-to-use IC card.
- Simply touch the sensor at a ticket gate or payment box in a bus with a manaca card to pay for your ride.
- You can register a manaca card as a commuter pass. If your manaca card has enough balance, then when you travel to a station outside of your commuter pass area, the payment box/ticket sensor will automatically calculate the additional fare needed and debit your card.
- You can purchase railway tickets and μtickets with manaca.
- manaca can be used on Meitetsu trains & buses, the Toyohashi Railway, Nagoya city transportation (subways and buses), the Aonami Line, and the Yutorito Line.
- Points (manaca mileage points) are accumulated from spending money stored on the manaca card as transportation fare.
- If you get a manaca card registered in your name, you can easily get it reissued if you lose it.
- Once you have used all the credit on your manaca card, you can easily recharge it and reuse it again and again.
Types of manaca cards
A manaca card can be either non-registered, registered, or a commuter pass.
Non-registered manaca
Can be used by anyone but it cannot be reissued if it is lost. Can be changed to a registered manaca card or manaca commuter pass.
Non-registered manaca |
Registered manaca
Can only be used by the person the card is registered to. By registering your name, gender, date of birth and phone number, you can reissue the card if it is lost. Can be changed to a manaca commuter pass.
Registered manaca |
manaca commuter pass
Same as a registered manaca card but a user can save money if they travel regularly between 2 locations. If you charge your manaca card in advance, you can travel to a station outside of your commuter pass area and the payment box/ticket sensor will automatically calculate the additional fare needed and debit your card.

Ticket Gates[edit]
There are 7 ticket gates at Meitetsu Nagoya Station, including the Central Ticket Gate, West Ticket Gate, South Ticket Gate, North Ticket Gate, East Ticket Gate, New South Ticket Gate and Kintetsu Connection Ticket Gate.
The Central Ticket Gate, West Ticket Gate, and South Ticket Gate are located in the Meitetsu station building, and the North Ticket Gate can be accessed from the Gatewalk Underground Shopping Mall.
The East Ticket Gate and New South Ticket Gate are only for entrance to Platform 4. The East Ticket Gate is near the underground lottery sales kiosk, and the New South Ticket Gate is at the back of the Meitetsu department store underground food section.
The Kintetsu connection ticket gate connects Platform 1 to the Kintetsu Nagoya Station platforms.
Nagoya Station Layout
Nagoya Station can be accessed from the 1st floor of the station building. Here you will find all the ticket offices, ticket machines and ticket gates. The basic structure of the station is fairly simple. There are two main exits with a Central Walkway running between them. On the east side of the building is the Sakura-Dori Exit, and on the west side of the building is the Taiko-Dori Exit. There are large clocks at either end of this walkway that make useful meeting points. The Gold Clock is at the Sakura-Dori end of the walkway and the Silver Clock at the Taiko-Dori end.

The Taiko-Dori side Silver Clock
There are taxi ramps outside both of these exits. The majority of the city bus stops however, are on the east Sakura-Dori side of the station. The Me~guru sightseeing bus also departs from bus stop 8 which is just outside Nagoya Station’s east side Sakura-Dori Exit. Outside the west Taiko-Dori Exit you can find the JR Highway Bus terminal and ticket office.
There are five sets of ticket gates for the JR lines. This means you can quickly access the rail lines from any approach to the station building.
The Sakura-Dori Ticket Gates are on the north east side of the station
The Hirokoji Ticket Gates on the south east side of the station
The Central Ticket Gates are on the south side of the Central Walkway
The Central North Ticket Gates are on north side of the side of the Central Walkway
The Taiko-Dori South Ticket Gates are on the south west side of the station
Right beside the Taiko-Dori South Ticket Gates are the gates for the semi-private Aonami Line.

There are two sets of ticket gates for the shinkansen tracks on the west Taiko Dori side of the station: the Shinkansen North Ticket Gates and the Shinkansen South Ticket Gates. There are also transfer gates for direct access between the JR lines and the shinkansen lines.

Meitetsu Nagoya Station
Meitetsu Nagoya Station is an underground station that occupies the basement level of the main Meitetsu Department Store outside JR Nagoya Station. It can be easily accessed on the south east Sakura Dori side of JR Nagoya Station and it is also close to Kintetsu Nagoya Station. Ticket machines and gates are on the first basement B1 level, and platforms and tracks are on the second basement B2 level. This station serves the Meitetsu Nagoya Main Line, however there are many through train services that run from this line onto various Meitetsu branch lines. For this reason there are a wide range of destinations that can be reached by train from Meitetsu Nagoya Station.

Buying Tickets
Tickets can be bought from ticket vending machines or from a ticket counter. Ticket machines have English guidance and are easy to use. First find your fare from the route map above the ticket machines. Then put the appropriate amount of money in the machine and press the corresponding fare button. You can then collect your ticket and any change and pass through the gates. Prepaid IC cards such as MANACA, SUICA, or ICOCA can also be used instead of a ticket to pass through the gates. Simply touch your card to the card reader at the gate and walk through.
There are route maps over the ticket machines

Limited Express trains have some first class carriages for which you need to pay an extra reservation fee of 360 yen. In the case of the μ Sky Limited Express, which runs between Chubu Airport and several major stations on the Meitetsu network, all seats are first class, so this reservation fee is automatically included in the cost. If you board a first class carriage without a first class ticket and there are seats free, then you can pay the extra 360 yen directly to the conductor on board the train.
